Mandated Reporting Responsibilities
Family Forward Counseling Services is legally required to report suspected or known:
Child abuse or neglect (OKDHS Child Welfare)
Abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults (Adult Protective Services)
Situations where an individual is at imminent risk of harm to self or others
These laws exist to protect children, families, and at-risk adults.
In some cases—particularly when there is known or ongoing involvement with other agencies—there may be situations where duplicate reports are made to ensure safety and legal compliance. When possible and clinically appropriate, we will discuss reporting needs with you in session.

Adult Protective Services Hotline (OKDHS): 1-800-522-3511
Important Notice: Family Forward is Not a Crisis Service
Family Forward Counseling Services does not provide:
24-hour monitoring or on-call crisis response
Emergency evaluations
Immediate stabilization or hospitalization services
Family Forward Counseling Services is not a crisis center, but it’s important to know when a situation may require immediate help. Using guidance similar to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s description of urgent concerns, an emergency typically involves any situation where safety is at immediate risk, including:
Suicidal actions or attempts (even if someone believes the attempt was not life-threatening), as well as suicidal threats or stated intentions
Homicidal actions, threats, or intentions
Behaviors that pose a serious risk of harm to oneself or others
A significant break from reality (e.g., hallucinations, delusions, or severe disorientation)
An inability to safely care for oneself when developmentally expected to do so
If you or someone else is experiencing any of the above, please contact 911, visit the nearest emergency room, or call/text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
